1. Chain Sling – Chain Slings are most common kind of sling type used for a variety of purposes. These are considered as most durable ones and tend to last a lot longer than the other kinds of slings. Also, these are flexible and can be altered with a number of fitting. On the downside, these are heavier than the others and can be expensive too.

2. Wire Rope Sling – Wire rope slings are made out of twisted steel ropes with loops on the ends. These are extremely lighter, cheaper, and available in a variety of lengths. Its unique orientation of twisted ropes makes it extra sturdy and let the load be securely held. But these do slightly curve and can cause damage if not operated well.

3. Nylon Sling – Nylon slings are rather unconventional kind of sling design with same basic functionality but a different material. It has loops on both the ends and is connected with a thick nylon string. These slings are really cheap and don’t twist while being operated. But the shorter life and incapability to stand cuts reduces the life of this sling type.

4. Polyester Slings – Polyester is another material which is unconventional for the sling design but can be really helpful. It has the same advantages of a Nylon Sling but with softer and flexible material. These are resistant to chemicals but rubbing can cause abrasion on it.
